WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The Vassar College Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams traveled to Monmouth for its first outdoor meet in the Northeast this season.
Sophomore Sophia Henderson opened the day for Vassar in the women's 1500-meters with a 18th place finish in a time of 4:56.05 along with freshman Anika Mueller-Hickler finishing 26th overall with a time of 5:02.26. Freshman Nora Goldberg-Courtney crossed the finish line in 44th place in 5:17.32 followed by sophomore Anna Kaigle scoring a 48th place finish in 5:17.32. In the men's race, sophomore
Jose Magana crossed the finish line in 17th place in a time of 4:07.24 while freshman
Kai Chang was 47th in 4:14.82 and freshman
Nick Miller was 63rd in a time of 4:21.89.
In the women's 100-meters, junior Ava Novak was the top finisher in 18th place in a time of 12.70 followed by freshman Jamie Eu was 25th in 13.06. Freshman Sydney Passley-Harris scored a 30th place finish in 13.29 and senior Malinda Smith was 33rd with a time of 13.49. Junior
Rey Claro was 36th overall in a time of 12.33 in the men's 100-meters.
Junior Nora Jensen was 18th in the women's 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.65 and freshman Lila Miller finished 23rd in 18.01. Sophomore
Jae Young Seo scored a 24th overall finish with a time of 17.32.
Young Seo also ran in the men's 200-meters in a time of 25.86 for a 69th place finish. In the women's race, Eu was 44th in 27.65 followed by Jensen with a time of 28.79 in 57th overall place.Â
Two Brewers ran in the 400-meter hurdles as senior
Lukas Muzila was eighth overall in a time of 1:02.11 in the men's race while junior Laura Wong was 10th overall with a time of 1:13.17.
In the women's 800-meters, freshman Margaret McLaughlin scored a 33rd place finish in 2:34.00 while junior Ava Waters finished in 35th place with a time of 2:34.68. Sophomore
Jose Magana tallied a ninth overall finish in the men's race in 2:01.03 while junior
Sam Lytel was 31st in 2:05.72 and Chang was 32nd in 2:06.07.
Junior Clara Wiesler crossed the finish line in 22nd place in 19:39.39 in the women's 5000-meters. Sophomore
Tim Buchan scored a 12th place finish in 15:28.23 followed by freshman
Arlo Rucker finishing in 27th place in 15:49.58.
The women's 4x100 relay of Smith, Novak, freshman Jahmilia Dennis and Passley-Harris finished seventh overall in 51.15. In the women's 4x400 relay, Wong, Henderson, Waters and sophomore Jordan Norman finished in eighth place in a time of 4:24.13 while the men's relay quartet of sophomore
Nick Redstone, Miller, junior
Tim Jacques and Muzila scored a 13th place finish in 3:36.85.
In the field events, sophomore Soleil Yuong was 21st in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 24.37 meters followed by Miller in 23rd with 22.12 meters. Sophomore
Michael Came was 21st in the men's event with a distance of 24.37 meters.
The women's long jump had three Brewers in the top 20 as Novak was 11th with a mark of 5.11 meters, junior Heather Kwafo was 13th at 5.05 meters and Passley-Harris tallied a 19th place finish at 4.88 meters.
In the men's shot put, freshman
Justin White finished in 26th place with a mark of 11.82 meters while Miller was 23rd in the women's event with a mark of 9.33 meters and Yuong was 28th at 8.18 meters.
Dennis recorded a second place finish in the women's long jump with only a jumper from Lehigh having a better mark than 11.60 meters. Kwafo finished seventh overall at 10.84 meters followed by Eu tallying a 16th place finish with a mark of 9.65 meters.
Vassar will travel to Ramapo next weekend for the Ramapo College Invitational.
