POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Vassar College Men's Tennis team cruised to a 9-0 sweep over New Jersey City University on Sunday afternoon at Walker Field House. The Brewers improve to 8-3 overall while the Gothic Knights fall to 4-6 on the season.
Freshmen duo
Pedro Cattaruzzi and
Miles Sondergaard Jensen began doubles play with an 8-2 victory over Pedro Caro-Accino Roca and Joaquin Pluis at two. Three saw freshman
Ethan Mantell and sophomore
James Balon triumphed 8-3 against Ryan Weiss and Jordi Julia followed by freshmen
Fernando Bauermeister and
Nolan Kubiak earned an 8-3 win over Nico Teynie and Alejandro Ley at the top flight.
Balon rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Weiss at five while Mantell took a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Julia at six. Four saw sophomore
Arnav Agostinho earn a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Pluis before Kubiak took a 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) victory over Caro-Accino Roca at three. Junior
Benjamin Almquist tallied a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ley at two before Bauermeister earned a hard-fought 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-2) triumph over Teynie at the top flight.
The Brewers return to Liberty League play on Saturday, April 1st when they take on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 2:00 p.m.
