Brewers will host the UVC Championship on April 14-16

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The second-ranked Vassar College Men's Volleyball clinched the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) regular season title following a 25-22, 26-24, 25-18 sweep against #9 New York University on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Brewers earned their record-setting 16th straight victory and will now host the UVC Tournament which will run from April 14-16. Vassar improves to 17-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play while the Violets drop to 11-6 and 2-2 in UVC action.

Following an early 6-6 tie in the opening set, NYU earned three straight points on a kill from Buddy Cohen and back-to-back blocks from Cohen and Ryan Li. Vassar answered and tied the set up at 11 following an ace from senior Andrew Kim. After a kill from Gautham Dasari to go ahead 14-11, the Brewers used a kill and an ace from senior Adam Gulick along with a block from junior Jacob Kim and senior Gavin van Beveren to tie the set at 14. A block from Lucas Osiecki cut the Brewers lead to 24-22 before a block from freshman Tristan Christofferson and A. Kim sealed the first set win.

The two teams traded points throughout a majority of the second set as a kill from A. Kim put the Brewers ahead 13-12. A winner from Cohen along with a block from Osiecki gave NYU a two-point edge at 15-13 before back-to-back kills from van Beveren and A. Kim tied the set at 19 all. Osiecki's kill for NYU gave the Violets set point at 24-23 but Vassar scored the final three points on a NYU error, a kill from junior Colin Jones and the set-clinching point on a winner from sophomore Payne Lounsbery.

Vassar got out to an early 6-3 third set lead as Lounsbery, junior Vaughn Ramsey and J. Kim each buried kills. NYU got within one at 10-9 following a kill from Osiecki before a quick three point run from the Brewers, capped by a Ramsey winner, got them ahead 14-10. A kill each from Ramsey, J. Kim and A.
