PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL - Senior
Maddy Kretten scored six goals and added three assists to lead the Vassar College Women's Lacrosse team to a 23-12 victory over Eastern Connecticut State on Monday in Panama City Beach. The Brewers improve to 2-1 overall on the season while the Warriors move to 1-2.
Vassar tallied the first goal from senior
Trina Chou at the 12:51 mark before Caroline Stent tied it about two minutes later. From there, the Brewers scored the next three goals from senior Annie Uykei, junior
Lola Wright and senior
Kateri Sanseviro to go ahead 4-1 with just under eight minutes to go in the opening quarter. Goals from Stent and Jessie Pyrek-Bennett put the Warriors within one before Kretten scored twice along with one tally each from Wright and sophomore
Emma Torkelson to hold a 8-4 lead after the opening period.
Torkelson scored three more times in the second quarter while Kretten, Uyeki, freshman
Karina Gyllenhaal and junior
Livia Shine each potted a goal for the Brewers as its lead grew to 15-7 at the halftime break.
Kretten and Torkelson scored the first two goals of the second half before Eastern Connecticut answered with three of the next four tallies to cut the lead down to 18-10 with 4:35 remaining. Vassar closed the second half with goals from Kretten, sophomore

Yael Gelman to push the Brewers ahead 21-10 after three quarters.
Gyllenhaal scored her second goal of the game in the fourth quarter while junior

Madison Bouggess with 6:50 remaing as Vassar took a 23-12 victory in its first of two games in Florida.
Kretten finished with nine points for the Brewers while Torkelson added five goals and two assists. Uyeki, Wright and Gyllenhaal each scored two goals while Kretten and Shine each tallied three caused turnovers. Kretten, Mullcahy and Torkelson all had four draw controls each for the Brewers.
Stent led the way with four goals for the Warriors along with Pyrek-Bennett, Kaylee Drobish and Shay Ventresca tallying two goals apiece. Abby Parisi led the way with three caused turnovers while Riccitelli-Pestana and Stent added two caused turnovers. Stent also had a game-high nine draw controls for Eastern Connecticut State.Â
Vassar will take on Nazareth on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. CST in Panama City Beach.
