Men's Track and Field Finishes Seventh at Liberty League Indoor Championships

Brewers finish strong at first ever Indoor Championship meet

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Vassar College Men's and Women's Track and Field teams completed their first ever Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Championships at RIT on Saturday. The women's team finished in fourth out of eight schools while the men's squad finished seventh overall.

Bergman concluded his heptathlon with a 10th place overall finish as he posted fifth place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles (9.84)  and the pole vault with a mark of 3.60m. 

In the women's 60-meter hurdles final, freshman Jahmilia Dennis scored a four place finish in 9.27 while rookie Catherine Peacock was sixth in 9.73. Sophomore Traci Francis was second overall in the women's 60-meter in a time of 7.83, just being edged out by .004 seconds, while junior Ava Novak was fifth in a time of 8.04.

Sophomore Jordan Norman was the top finisher for Vassar in the women's 800-meters with a 16th place finish in 2:31.76 while in the men's race, junior Tim Jacques finished 10th overall with a time of 1:58.48. 

In the women's 200-meters, Novak was fourth overall in a time of 26.11 while rookie Kali Ringler was 12th in 27.25. Senior Tucker Quinlan scored a 23rd place finish in the men's 200-meters for the top finish for the Brewers.

Senior Augusta Stockman continued to their strong performance at the Championship with a third place finish in the women's 3000-meters in a time of 10:13.90. Sophomore Tim Buchan tallied a 13th place finish in the men's race, crossing the finish line in 8:50.24.

In the women's 4x400 relay, the group of Novak, senior Trina Chou, freshman Margaret McLaughlin and junior Laura Wong finished fifth overall in a time of 4:14.86. The men's relay of Quinlan, sophomore Nick Redstone, senior Lukas Muzila and Jacques recorded a sixth place finish with a time of 3:33.31.

In the field events, sophomore Elinor Kops tallied a seventh place in the women's high jump with a mark of 1:43m. Dennis was the individual champion in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.39 meters for Vassar in its first ever Championship meet.

Rochester recorded the victory with 200.5 points for the men while RPI was second with 168 points. Ithaca and RIT finished tied for third with 96 points each while St. Lawrence was fifth with 43 points. Union was sixth with 36 points with Vassar being seventh with 12.5 points and Bard finishing eighth with 11.

On the women's side, Rochester won with 186 points, edging out Ithaca who was second with 185.5. RPI was third with 87 points with Vassar finishing right behind in fourth with 71. 

Next up for the Brewers is the AARTFC Indoor Championships next weekend at the Armory.
