ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Vassar College Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field teams opened up its first ever Liberty League Indoor Championship meet on Friday at RIT. The men's team currently sits in sixth place after the first day of competition while the women's team sits in fifth overall.
The day began with the women's pentathlon as sophomore Elinor Kops finished seventh overall after finishing second overall in the shot put with a mark of 8.88 meters. Kops finished in fourth in the high jump at 1.42m while freshman Lila Miller finished 10th in the pentathlon and was fourth in the shot put at 8.43 meters. Sophomore
Max Bergman currently sits in 11th place in the men's heptathlon as he finished third overall in the long jump with a mark of 6.17 meters.
Senior Augusta Stockman finished second overall in the women's mile with a time of 5:07.24 for the Brewers while sophomore
Tim Buchan was 11th overall in the men's 1 mile in a time of 4:23.02.
In the opening round of the women's 60m hurdles, freshman Jahmilia Dennis qualified for tomorrow's final with a third place finish in 9:32 while junior Nora Jensen was ninth in 9.81. Vassar had two finishers qualify for the women's 60m as sophomore Traci Francis was fourth overall in 8.00 and junior Ava Novak was seventh in 8.16.
Senior Trina Chou recorded a sixth place finish in the women's 400-meters in 1:01.76 while freshman
Davis Anderson scored a sixth place finish in the men's 5000 meters in a time of 15:08.50.
In the women's distance medley relay, the quartet of junior Clara Wiesler, senior Ava Waters, junior Jordan Norman and freshman Anika Mueller-Hickler tallied a sixth place finish in 13:25.71 while the men's relay of freshman Nicholas Miller, junior
Tim Jacques, sophomore
Nick Redstone and sophomore
Jose Magana recorded a fourth palce finish in 10:44.79.Â
Senior Lola Perez-Fry finished fifth overall in the women's long jump at 5.33m while Novak was seventh with a mark of 5.22m. Sophomore
Jeremy Frank scored a seventh place finish in the men's pole vault at 4.16m.
Vassar will return to action for day two of the Liberty League Championship tomorrow starting at 11:00 a.m.
