Andrew Kim totaled 29 kills on the day as the fifth-ranked Vassar College Men's Volleyball team cruised to its ninth and 10th straight victories in a 25-20, 25-21, 25-17 victory over conference foe MIT and a 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 win against Stevenson. Vassar improves to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in UVC action.

The Engineers started the first set with a 7-2 lead as Albert Luo, Grant Oh and Phillip Johnson each buried kills. Three straight winners from the Brewers, including two by A. Kim and one from senior
Gavin van Beveren, brought Vassar within two. A kill from junior
Vaughn Ramsey tied the set up at eight apiece and the Brewers took its first lead of the set on an ace from junior
Tobias Clark. Vassar's lead expanded to 21-17 on a block from A. Kim and sophomore
Gavin Akoto. Back-to-back winners from van Beveren and Akoto clinched the first set 25-20 victory for the Brewers.
The Engineers used a four point swing to take a 7-5 lead early in the first set on an ace from Oh and a kill from Troy Oliveira. Akoto's service ace gave Vassar an 11-10 advantage before MIT took the lead back at 15-14 on an ace from Oh. A block from van Beveren and sophomore
Payne Lounsbery along with back-to-back kills from Ramsey put Vassar ahead 23-19. A. Kim and Lounsbery each picked up a kill to take the second set 25-21.
Vassar took advantage of back-to-back overpasses as Akoto and A. Kim both buried the winners to take an early 9-4 third set lead. MIT brought the advantage down to 11-9 following a VC error before the lead was expanded back to 16-10 on a block from van Beveren and junior
Jacob Kim. A block from Lounsbery and van Beveren helped clinch the Brewers three set victory and its first win in conference play.
A. Kim tallied 11 kills, two blocks and six digs for Vassar while Ramsey added nine winners and five digs. van Beveren had seven kills and five blocks along with Akoto adding seven kills and four blocks. J. Kim handed out a team-high 31 assists and chipped in three blocks.
Nicholas Gustafson recorded a match-high 16 kills and six digs while Oliveira and Oh each had six kills. Johnson and Michael Rini each had two blocks while Luo handed out 27 assists and added four digs.

Vassar began the match with an 8-6 edge as a kill from senior
Adam Gulick and blocks from freshman
Tristan Christofferson and A. Kim supplied the points for the Brewers. Vassar's lead grew to 18-12 following a winner from A. Kim and a block from Christofferson and junior
AJ Erickson. The Brewers took the final three points of the set after kills from Gulick and van Beveren to take the first set.
VC started strong in the second set with two aces from A. Kim and a kill from junior
Andrew Guaragno helped the Brewers to an 8-4 lead. An ace from Christofferson put Vassar ahead 13-8 before a kill from Ryan Thenell cut the lead to three. Following a kill from Christofferson to go ahead 19-13, Stevenson scored five straight points on three kills and an ace from Elliot De La Torre to cut the lead to 19-18. A kill from Gulick, a block from Guaragno and a kill from Guaragno pushed the Vassar lead to 23-21 before a Mustangs error and a winner from A. Kim clinched the second set win.
After an Aidan O'Brien kill to tie the set at six all, three kills from A. Kim and two miscues from the Mustangs pushed Vassar ahead 11-6. A De La Torre service ace reduced the Brewers lead down to one at 14-13 until Vassar scored the next eight of nine points with A. Kim burying two kills while van Beveren and Guaragno each added one. James Zuckerman gave Vassar a three set sweep for its 10th straight victory.
A. Kim tallied a match-high 18 kills while adding two aces and eight digs. Gulick finished with seven kills and a block along with Guaragno adding six kills, five blocks and five digs. Erickson handed out 28 assists to lead the Brewers while senior
Jorge Adames Reyes recorded seven digs.
De La Torre finished with nine kills, two aces and two blocks for Stevenson while O'Brien buried eight winners. Thenell added seven kills and four digs while Braverman chipped in six kills, two blocks and five digs. Justin Novoa had a team-high 18 assists and added three digs.
The Brewers will return to the court on Friday evening with a UVC showdown with St. John Fisher. The matchup with the Cardinals is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start at Kenyon Hall.
