WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Vassar Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field teams competed at the West Point Tune-Up as they will travel to the Liberty League Championships at RIT next weekend.
The day opened up on the track with the 60-meter hurdles as sophomore
Jae Young Seo qualified for the finals with a time of 9.55 and finished eighth in the finals in 9.63. Two Brewers on the women's side qualified for the finals as freshman Jahmilia Dennis and Faye Stevens finished fifth and seventh respectively as Dennis finished in 9.33 while Stevens crossed the line in 9.91. Dennis finished fourth in the finals in 9.23.
Junior
Darnell Worley was 15th overall in the 60-meter in a time of 7.33 on the men's side. Sophomore Traci Francis finished in sixth overall in 8.09 along with junior Ava Novak tallying a seventh place finish in 8.14 to make the finals. Francis finished fifth in the finals in a time of 8.00 while Novak was sixth in 8.09.
In the men's 1 mile run, sophomore
Jose Magana finished third overall in 4:31.16 while freshman
Kai Chang was sixth with a time of 4:31.55 and classmate
Arlo Rucker was seventh in 4:31.59. On the women's side, freshman Anika Mueller-Hickler was fifth in 5:34.73 while sophomore Sophie Farr crossed the line in ninth in 5:43.97.
Senior Trina Chou was the top DIII finisher in the 400-meters on the women's side in a time of 1:01.45 while senior Ava Waters was fifth in 1:06.53 and freshman Maddie Busam tallied a sixth place finish with a time of 1:08.09.Â
In the men's 800-meters, juniors
Simon LaClair and
Tim Jacques finished back-to-back in third and fourth place while sophomore
Tim Buchan finished in fifth overall. LaClair posted a time of 1:58.01, Jacques crossed the finish line in 1:59.75 and Buchan finished in 2:00.18. Senior Augusta Stockman finished in fifth place on the women's side in 2:21.52 while sophomore Jordan Norman finished 10th in a time of 2:33.21.
Senior
Tucker Quinlan was the top men's finisher in the 200-meters in a time of 25.21. In the women's race, freshman Kalista Ringler recorded a sixth place finish in 27.96 along with senior Lola Perez-Fry adding an eighth place finish in 28.13. In the men's 3000-meters, sophomore
Levi Lilienthal scored an eighth place finish in 9:19.78 and sophomore
Jackson Bernreuter was 11th in 9:27.57.
Vassar earned victories on both the men and the women's side of the 4x400 as the men's group of Worley, sophomore Maxwell Bergman, Jacques and Quinlan posted a time of 3:36.36 while the women's quartet of junior Laura Wong, freshman Margaret McLaughlin, senior Ava Waters, Norman crossed the line in 4:18.24.
In the field events, sophomore Soleil Young posted a mark of 8.64m in the shot put while freshman Lila Miller added a mark of 8.61m. Sophomore
Jeremy Frank had a mark of 4.03m in the men's pole vault for an eighth place finish.
Bergman was 10th in the men's long jump with a 6.03m mark while Perez-Fry won the women's long jump with a mark of 5.21m and Novak was third with 5.11m. Freshman Sydney Passley-Harris took fourth place with a mark of 5.07m. The men's side closed the day with the long jump as Worley posted a mark of 12.41m.
Vassar begins the two-day Liberty League Championships at RIT on Friday.
