Troy, NY – The Vassar College Men's Soccer Team had six players earn All-Liberty League recognition it was announced on Tuesday.
Owen Fauth (Keene, NH) was made a First Team pick and named the league's Player of the Year, while
Duncan Keker (Oakland, CA) and
Danny Berry (Haskell, NJ) were each named Second Team All-Liberty League. First Year
Jackson Allen (Chapel Hill, NC), sophomore
Jared Fiske (Livingston, NJ) and junior
Charlie Rodhouse (Carmel Valley, CA) were all named All-Liberty League Honorable Mention.
Fauth, the first Liberty League Player of the Year from Vassar since Brian Bianchetti in 2009, closed out a standout career for the Brewers in 2023 by leading the team in assists (8) and points (20), while potting six goals, including a pair of game winners. Fauth sits atop the league leaderboard in assists through the conference championship and sits third in total points. Fauth's eight helpers in 2023 put him in a tie for fourth on the single season list in program history.
Fauth closed the 2023 season with one multiple goal game and a pair of multiple assist outings for the Brewers. He scored twice in a road win at Springfield on September 6 and added the deciding tally in wins at Brandeis and home against league rival Skidmore. Fauth helped on two goals against Middlebury, a 2-2 draw, and Ithaca, a come-from-behind 2-1 home league win on October 20.
Keker continued to be one of the league's top goal scorers in 2023, finishing the year with a team-high seven markers, including one game winner. Keker added a trio of assists for the Brewers and finished second on the team with 17 points. Keker registered a hat trick on September 3 against Mount Saint Mary and tallied the game winning goal at Springfield on September 6. Keker picked up an assist on the game winning goal in Vassar's victory over St. Lawrence and tallied the team's lone goal against Ithaca in the First Round of the Liberty League Championship. Among the league leaders, Keker closed out the year in a tie for third in the conference in total goals.
Berry helped man the backline for Vassar in 2023 and also supported the offense with three goals and a pair of assists for eight points. Berry was second on the team in minutes played with 1,563 and was part of a defensive unit that surrendered just over one goal per game on the season. Offensively, Berry tallied three times with each goal either tying the score for Vassar or giving the Brewers the lead. Both of Berry's assists were on what proved to be game winning goals, helping on the deciding tallies at Springfield and at home against league rival Skidmore.
Allen, a First Year midfielder, was one of 10 players to play in all 18 games for the Brewers, making 17 starts. Allen logged 1,324 minutes in the midfield for Vassar and rounded out the season with 18 shots, putting nine on target.
Fiske appeared in 16 games and made 13 starts in his sophomore campaign and finished in a tie for second on team lead with six goals, while pacing the squad, and finishing in a tie for the league lead, with a trio of game winning markers. Fiske totaled 13 points on the season and ranked third on the team in both shots (31) and shots on goal (17).
Rodhouse anchored the backline for the Brewers in 2023 and was one of just six players to start all 18 games for Vassar in 2023. Rodhouse logged a team-high 1,620 minutes, playing the full 90 minutes in each contest. Rodhouse helped lead a defensive unit that ranked fourth in the Liberty League in goals allowed.
Vassar rounded out the 2023 season with an 8-6-4 overall record and a 4-3-2 mark in league play, qualifying for the Liberty League Championship for the sixth straight season.
