Field Hockey Falls on the Road At Rochester

Wiley makes four saves in goal for Vassar

ROCHESTER, NY - The Vassar College Field Hockey team played its first road conference game of the season on Saturday evening as the Brewers fell 1-0 to the University of Rochester. The Brewers fall to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play while the Yellowjackets improve to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in Liberty League play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Vassar had the first chance in the first quarter as senior Hailey Brigger's shot was saved by Rochester goalkeeper Kara Houston before first year goalie Grace Wiley made two saves along with senior Heidi Compton recording a defensive save.
  • Rochester picked up two penalty corners in the second quarter but didn't record a shot on goal as the game was scoreless at the half.
  • The Yellowjackets got on the board three minutes into the second half as Maeve Fogarty scored her eighth goal of the season on a pass from Zoe Conomikes.
  • First year Karina Hoffman threatened to tie the game with two and a half minute left in the third quarter but her shot was stopped by Houston.
FOR THE BREWERS
  • Brigger and Hoffman each recorded a shot on goal for Vassar.
  • Compton registered a defensive save while Wiley made four saves in goal.
FOR THE YELLOWJACKETS
  • Fogarty scored the lone goal of the contest while Conomikes recorded the assist.
  • Conomikes finished with three shots on goal while Fogarty added two shots on goal.
  • Houston earned the win in goal as she made two saves.
