Men’s Squash Competes Against St. Lawrence In Season Opener

Brewers host Fordham, Boston Univ. on Saturday

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Squash team played the first of four home matches to open the 2023-24 season on Friday evening, falling at the Kenyon Hall Courts by a score of 9-0 to St. Lawrence.

Friday's loss opens the 2023-24 season with an 0-1 overall record.

For The Brewers

First Year Jay Vashisht (Short Hills, NJ) had a strong showing in his first career match for the Brewers, falling in four sets by scores of 7-11, 14-12, 4-11, 3-11 to Luis Alejandro Moncada Gonzalez.
Fellow First Year Gabriel Lugo (East Hartford, CT) also had a strong showing in his career debut, battling in a 9-11, 8-11, 12-10, 7-11 loss at the eighth position.
Razaan Lalji (West Vancouver, BC) was in action at four for the Brewers and competed hard in a 7-11, 4-11, 1-11 loss to St. Lawrence's Harrison Callaway.
Kyle Benson (Bronx, NY) was in action at seven for Vassar, falling in a hard fought 5-11, 3-11, 3-11 decision.

What's Next

Vassar continues its four-match home stand to open the season on Saturday when it plays host to Fordham (9:30 a.m.) and Boston University (12:00 p.m.).
