McCusker, Shen Open Play At ITA Cup

Duo back in action Friday

Rome, GA – Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) and Sofie Shen (New York, NY) both opened play at the 2023 ITA Cup on Thursday. McCusker was in action in the main singles draw and later joined Shen to compete in the doubles draw for the Brewers.

The duo became the third doubles pair to represent the Brewers in program history while McCusker is the fourth Brewer to compete in the ITA Cup in the singles competition.

Singles

McCusker put together a strong effort in the singles match Thursday afternoon.
McCusker pushed the first set to a tie breaker, before dropping the hard fought frame 6-7 (1-7).
In the second set, McCusker's opponent from Trinity, Ruth Hill, scored a 6-3 victory to take the match.

Doubles

In the doubles draw, McCusker and Shen tussled with Amy Delman and Sahana Raman from Middlebury, suffering a 6-0, 6-0 loss.

What's Next

McCusker moves into the 'West' bracket and will take on Hannah Kassaie from Case Western Reserve Friday morning at 10:15 a.m.
McCusker and Shen also move to the 'West' bracket in doubles play where they will take on Olivia Kim and Hill, McCusker's Thursday singles opponent, from Trinity at 5:30 p.m. Friday evening.
