HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Vassar College men's squash team was on the road this weekend, competing at Haverford in a pair of matches. The Brewers shouldered a tough 8-0 loss to Georgetown in the opener, followed by a 9-0 loss to the host Fords later that day. Vassar is now 3-11 on the season.
Against the Hoyas in the day's opener, Georgetown posted a victory from the top of the ladder as Raunak Advani bested Vassar senior captain
Sameer Mustafa, 5-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-6. From two, Alexander Bernhard was an 11-8, 11-9, 11-6 winner over rookie
Razaan Lalji, while three saw Brando Sodi post an 11-7, 6-11, 11-7, 11-3 win against sophomore
Patrick Looby. At four, Dietrich Jacobs was an 11-3, 11-7, 11-3 victor against rookie
Luke Chen, while five was an 11-6, 11-5, 11-1 win for William Burke over Vassar sophomore
Jarid Haslinger. At six, Heath Otenasek earned an 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 win against senior
Josh Finkelstein, while seven was an 11-5, 11-4, 11-1 win by Sam Subramanian over rookie
Matthew O'Leary. Rounding out the action was an 11-3, 11-1, 11-1 win by Teddy Donohue at eight against Vassar sophomore
Wyatt Kern.
In the second match against Haverford, Quinton Ayres Crawford posted an 11-9, 11-3, 11-3 win over Mustafa at the top of the ladder, as Noah Tunis was an 11-1, 11-2, 11-2 winner over Lalji at two. Three saw Aaryaman Jaising with an 11-5, 11-8, 1-0 (retired) win against Looby, while Kai Schinaman had an 11-9, 11-6, 12-10 win against Chen from four. At five, Benjamin Schlitz took a hard-fought 11-4, 8-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9 win over Haslinger, while John Collins was an 11-2, 11-4, 11-1 victor against Finkelstein at six. From seven, Matthew Sullivan had an 11-4, 11-3, 11-1 win against O'Leary, as the action rouded out at eight as Garret Fantini bested Kern, 11-4, 11-3, 11-2.
Vassar is back on the court next weekend when it competes at the Liberty League Round Robin Championship, hosted by St. Lawrence University. Action begins on Friday and runs through Sunday.
