POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The No. 19 Vassar field hockey team earned its second victory of the season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Stevens in the first game of the Betty Richey tournament. Three different Brewers scored their first goal of the season and junior

Vassar started strong with multiple good chances in the first period as junior
Hailey Brigger (San Diego, CA) had a shot turned aside by Ducks goalkeeper Emily Franco. Junior
Katie Hieb (Pewaukee, WI) rang one off the post with just under four minutes to go in the first quarter as the first period ended scoreless.
The Brewers found the back of the net early in the second quarter as sophomore
Leilani Llamas (Grapevine, TX) knocked her first goal of the season in the back of the net just over six minutes into the quarter. Two minutes later, junior
Jaclyn Narleski (Basking Ridge, NJ) sent one in the circle and found the stick of junior
Maggie Werner (Berkeley, CA) for her first goal of the year.
Following a scoreless third quarter, Narleski scored her own first goal of the year on a feed from Hieb as she fired one in with just under a minute to play in the final stanza. The Brewers dominated the pace of play in the contest as they held a 17-0 edge in shots. Vassar also had the only five penalty corners of the game.
Dumaresq earned her second blanking of the season as Narleski, Llamas and Werner scored the three goals on 10 total shots on goal by Vassar. Franco made seven saves for Stevens in the loss.
In the second game of the day, Endicott defeated Marywood 5-1 to advance to play Vassar in the Betty Richey tournament championship match tomorrow afternoon. Stevens will take on Marywood in the consolation match beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Weinberg Field while the Brewers will face the Gulls in the Betty Richey championship match at 2:00 p.m
