CLINTON, NY – The Vassar College women's tennis team had another day of solid action, wrapping up play at the 2022 ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Hamilton College on Saturday afternoon.
In the main draw of singles action, senior
Tatum Blalock squared-off against NYU's Dakota Fordham in the Round of 16, falling by a 1-6, 1-6 margin. Rookie
Erin McCusker was also in play for the Round of 16, falling to NYU's Adi Narayan by a 4-6, 3-6 score.
Doubles action in the main draw featured Blalock and McCusker against NYU's Menendez and Balyk, advancing with an 8-6 win. The pair then faced Hamilton's Apsey and Pratt, but despite the solid effort, the Brewers duo fell by an 8-6 score. Sophomore duo
Macey Dowd and
Elyse Duley were also in main doubles action for the Round of 16, shouldering a tough 8-2 loss to Skidmore's Provost and Truong.
Consolation doubles saw the pairing of junior
Sofie Shen and rookie
Iris Li defeated Skidmore's Thongphik and Lal, 8-6. The duo then posted an 8-5 win over Hamilton's Cutler and Walpole, but ended the day with a tough 8-7 (7-3) loss to Skidmore's Geiss and Dhull.
Other consolation doubles action saw rookies
Ananya Krishnan and
Maya Thompson sub in, shouldering a tough 8-7 (7-3) loss to Hamilton's Walpole and Cutler.
In consolation singles, senior
Jade Wilkinson posted an 8-7 (7-5) win over Hamilton's Lorelei Glidden, but later fell to Hamilton's Claire Cutler, 8-4 and also to Samantha Rainero, 8-4.
B draw action saw Thompson shouldered an 8-4 loss to Hamilton's Samantha Rainero, while Krishnan posted an 8-1 win over NYU's Boker, 8-1, moving on to the B draw finals to defeat Hamilton's Rainero, 8-1.
The Brewers conclude their fall season with this weekend's action and return to play in the spring.
