LOS ANGELES, CA - The Vassar College men's tennis team was in action on Friday, taking on Occidental College at the McKinnon Family Tennis Center. The Tigers came away with the 6-3 victory over the Brewers, moving to 3-0 on the season. Vassar is now 3-5.
In doubles action, the homestanding Tigers posted an 8-4 win at the first flight as Matthew O'Connor and Michael Abagyan bested Vassar senior
Mathew Yee and rookie
Arnav Agostinho. Occidental's pair at three of Christopher Swanson and Zach Haas then recorded an 8-4 win over VC senior
Mihajlo Ivanovic and sophomore

The Brewers posted their first point from the second flight as sophomores
Benjamin Almquist and
Jay Wong won an outstanding marathon match against David Zhang and Seth Lipe taking the win by an 8-7 (12-10) margin to make it a 2-1 game.
Singles action saw O'Connor earn a 6-3, 6-4 win over Yee from the first position, while at two, Zhang came away with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Wong. Three was a Vassar victory as Almquist posted a 6-0, 7-5 win against Abagyan, but the Tigers got the point back at four as Lipe defeated Agostinho, 6-0, 6-0.
At five, Ivanovic posted the Brewers third point, posting a solid 6-3, 6-0 win against Swanson, while from six, Haas posted a 6-1, 6-2 win against Vassar rookie

The Brewers are right back in action on Saturday morning when they face Whittier College at 11am (PST).
