Men's Soccer Ties at Skidmore in League Action

Brewers play to 2-2 game at the Thoroughbreds

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - Skidmore College came from behind to post a 2-2 tie against Vassar College in Liberty League men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. The Brewers are now 7-3-1 and 3-0-1 in league play, while the Thoroughbreds move to 5-1-4 and 2-0-2 in the Liberty League.

First half action saw a number of attempts right off the bat as each side was tested early. It was the Brewers that struck first in the 14th minute as sophomore midfielder Duncan Keker scored from 15 yards out with a low ground shot.

The Brewers had a number of attempts throughout the half, but netted their second of the contest in the 44th minute as senior midfielder Kyle Lopes buried a feed from classmate and captain Owen Fauth to make it a 2-0 advantage for Vassar at halftime.

Second half play got off to a fast start for Skidmore as the home team fired in three shots on goal in a four-minute span as senior captain Eric Wnorowski stopped each one. The Thoroughbreds finally broke through in the 67th minute as Kamal Ibrahim scored after beating the Vassar defender in a one-on-one to bury it in,.

It was Ibrahim once again in the 72nd minute, netting the equalizer for Skidmore as he drove in a tally on the penalty kick for the 2-2 score.

The Brewers had a solid chance in the final two minutes of the contest as sophomore forward Jackson Hall sent a shot in on net, but Skidmore goalie Bobby Stratts was there to make the save.

Vassar owned a 15-11 advantage in shots for the game, including a narrow 7-6 margin on goal. The Brewers also had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

In goal, Wnorowski made four saves in the draw, while Stratts stopped five shots.

The Brewers are back in action this weekend, heading to the North Country to face Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Friday (4pm) and Saturday (2pm), respectively.
