Maggie Werner (Berkeley, CA) had the first chance for the Brewers as her shot was saved by Ithaca goalkeeper Macy Brandwein at the 5:07 mark of the first quarter. Vassar earned its first penalty corner at the six minute mark of the first quarter but sophomore
Hailey Brigger's (San Francisco, CA) was blocked by Ithaca to limit the opportunity. Ithaca picked up a corner of its own at 8:15 as Brianna Lennon's shot went wide to keep the game scoreless after the first quarter.
The Bombers got a good chance early in the second quarter as Dumaresq denied Elizabeth Pillow's shot four minutes into the quarter. Ithaca earned a penalty corner just seconds later but Pillow's shot went high off the cross in and kept the game scoreless.
The Brewers earned back to back penalty corners two minutes later but sophomore
Leilani Llamas' (Grapevine, TX) shot was blocked and Brigger's try went wide as the contest remained scoreless. Ithaca picked up a penalty corner with three minutes left in the half but did not get a shot off as the game was scoreless heading into halftime.
Ithaca had two opportunities off of penalty corners late in the third quarter as Natalie Descalso's shot went wide and Dumaresq made her second save of the game against Brenna Schoenfeld to keep the game tied at zero after three quarters.
Vassar earned four penalty corners in a span of two minutes but senior
Ella Pearl's (San Francisco, CA) shot went wide five minutes into the fourth quarter. The Bombers were awarded a corner with just under two minutes left in the quarter and Dumaresq made a save off Emma Garver's shot. However, Morgan Mullen picked up the rebound and fired it into the back of the net for the game-winner with 1:38 remaining in the contest.
Brigger finished with two shots for the Brewers and Werner had the lone shot on goal. Pillow led the Bombers in shots with two and Mullen's goal was her fourth of the season. Ithaca held a 7-5 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. Vassar held a slim 7-6 in penalty corners.
The Brewers return to home for the first time since early September as they will take on #18 SUNY Cortland on Tuesday afternoon. The contest with the Red Dragons at Weinberg Field is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
