Swimming & Diving Sweeps Dual Meet Action at Skidmore

Brewers Men win 184-101; Vassar Women post 148-140 victory

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – A number of outstanding efforts paced the day as the Vassar men's and women's swimming & diving teams posted a dual meet sweep at Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon. The Brewers men posted a 184-101 victory, while the Vassar women were 148-140 winners over the Thoroughbreds.

Action got underway in the women's 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of Sarah Quintana, Alejandra Robins, Lillian Lowenthal and Abby Whittington powered their way to a win with a time of 1:54.87 – nearly two seconds faster than second-place. On the men's side, the foursome of Brandon Li, Nikolas Pham, Max White and Ben Glazebnik took first by a near second margin, combining for a time of 1:40.60.

The women's 1000-yard freestyle saw Robins take second with a time of 11:33.83. For the men, Lukas Johnson was second with a time of 11:13.38. The 200-yard freestyle was a fine showing for the women as Alanna Muello earned the win with a time of 2:02.77. The Brewers gained critical points as Grace Myers was third (2:04.34), while Maya Luongo powered her way to fourth (2:04.79).

On the men's side of the 200-free, the Brewers went 1-2-3, paced by Glazebnik with the victory in 1:50.03. Jason Albaum was second with a time of 1:53.07, while Rory Stumpf was third in 1:56.52.

Quintana picked up her first individual win in the 100-yard backstroke, taking the win with a time of 1:01.88. Teammate Jolie Walker was right behind, earning second with a touch of 1:05.39 on the wall. For the men, Li was the victory with a time of 57.65.

Next up in the 100-yard breaststroke, Jesse Ecklund posted a second-place time of 1:14.81, while the men's side saw Hanlin Wang take second with a mark of 1:03.86. The Brewers also picked up solid points as Robbie Perot and Hayden Ehrenfeld were third (1:04.35) and fourth (1:05.79), respectively.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Lowenthal was the winner with a time of 2:18.52. Key points also came in from Karlie Porter as she took second with a mark of 2:23.37. The men's side was won by Tyler Tsukuda as he touched the wall in a time of 2:05.74 – a mark that was two seconds better than his lifetime best time in the event.

Switching to the 50-yard freestyle, Vassar went 2-3-4 as Whittington (26.01), Luongo (26.04) and Sophie Forbes (26.12) picked up major points. The men's side saw Pham earn the victory, touching the wall in a time of 23.30. White and Johnson also earned points toward the team total, taking third (23.47) and fourth (23.96), respectively.

A break from the pool saw the Vassar divers shine, paced by Evelyn Boyle, who took second off the 1-meter board with a score of 170.33 points. The men's side saw VC's Sam Fujikawa compete on the board for the first time this season, taking the victory with a score of 147.83 points.

Returning to the pool, the Brewers hit the water for the 100-yard freestyle as Whittington, Luongo and Ecklund went second (56.41), third (57.18) and fourth (57.95), respectively. The men's side saw Glazebnik earn the win, posting a time of 49.99. He was followed by Pham and Ehrenfeld who were second (51.22) and third (51.51), respectively for more important points.

In the 200-yard backstroke, the Brewers picked up critical points as Ecklund garnered the win with a time of 2:14.41. Walker was close behind, taking second overall with a time of 2:21.97. The men's side saw Tsukuda grab the victory, posting a time of 2:08.28. Leroy Wang also helped post points, touching the wall in fourth (2:24.89).

The women's 200-breast saw Robins earn second with a time of 2:38.51, while the men's side was a 1-2 sweep as Hanlin Wang won with a mark of 2:18.51. Perot was second in the event with a time of 2:21.54.

Next up were critical points from the 500-yard free as the women's side saw a 1-2 finish. Quintana led the way with a winning time of 5:33.73, while Muello was second with a mark of 5:34.83. On the men's side, White was the victor with a time of 4:58.75. Johnson earned third (5:23.84), while Stumpf was fourth (5:25.38).

The 100-butterfly saw Lowenthal and Myers take second (1:03.08) and third (1:03.57), while the men's side was paced by Albaum, Perot and Li in second (56.77), third (58.02) and fourth (58.95).

Diving was up next with the men's 1-meter board as Fujikawa claimed victory once again with a score of 169.88 points.

Back in the pool for the final four events, action got underway again with the 200-individual medley as Lowenthal was second with a time of 2:15.92. Robins was third (2:20.83) and Quintana took fourth (2:25.95) to garner critical points. White was the men's winner, posting a time of 2:03.82 for victory. Albaum was third (2:11.88), while Tsukuda earned fifth (2:14.32).

In the women's 400-free relay, the foursome of Myers, Muello, Ecklund and Whittington combined for a winning time of 3:42.97. The quartet of Luongo, Forbes, Porter and Walker took third with a time of 3:56.20 to earn key points.

On the men's side, Li, Perot, Pham and Glazebnik were the victors with a time of 3:19.15, while Hanlin Wang, Johnson, Stumpf and Ehrenfeld were second with a time of 3:23.87.

The Brewers return to action next Saturday, traveling to Troy, NY for a 1pm dual meet against the Engineers.
