POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Powered by a number of outstanding performances, the Vassar College men's and women's swimming & diving team notched a dual meet sweep over SUNY New Paltz at Kresge Pool on Friday evening. The Brewers men defeated the Hawks by a 173-94 score, while the Vassar women posted a 177-90 win against New Paltz. It marks the third dual meet sweep for the Brewers this season, including sweeps of Bard and Skidmore.
Action got underway with a Vassar win in the women's 200-medley relay. The foursome of senior Jesse Ecklund, sophomore Alejandra Robins, rookie Maya Luongo and junior Abby Whittington posted a time of 1:53.59 for the win. The Brewers also saw sophomores Sarah Quintana and Szofia Lewis, along with junior Lillian Lowenthal and Sophie Forbes take second with a tiem of 1:54.03. On the men's side, seniors

Nikolas Pham and
Max White, along with rookie
Ben Glazebnik earned the win in a time of 1:39.02.
In the women's 1,000-yard freestyle, senior Abby Jenkins was second overall with a time of 12:15.15. The Brewers then saw a 1-2-3 performance in the women's 200-free, paced by event winner Ecklund as she notched a time of 1:58.74. Sophomore Alanna Muello was second in 2:02.02, while Whittington took third in 2:02.73. The men's event was another sweep at the top, led by junior
Robbie Perot as he touched the wall in a winning time of 1:45.97. Junior
Jason Albaum was second in 1:52.03, followed by sophomore
Lukas Johnson in third with a mark of 1:54.99.
Quintana was the next winner for the Brewers, claiming victory in the 100-back with a time of 1:00.70. Luongo was close behind, taking second in 1:02.28. On the men's side, Li was the victory, touching the wall first in 56.56. In the 100-breast, Robins claimed victory with a time of 1:13.27, while Pham was the men's winner, posting a time of 1:01.54 for the win. Sophomore
Hanlin Wang was second overall in 1:02.99. Another 1-2 punch came in the 200-butterfly on both sides. The women's was led by Lowenthal, who claimed victory in 2:15.43, while sophomore Karlie Porter was second in 2:24.80. The men's event saw White earn the win in 2:02.07, followed by rookie
Tyler Tsukuda in second in 2:07.93.
The 50-yard free was next as junior Grace Myers earned the women's win in 25.59. Forbes took second overall in 25.62, while rookie Jordan Marlow was third in 26.06. The men's side saw Glazebnik power his way to victory in 21.75, while rookie
Hayden Ehrenfeld was second in 22.20. Next up came diving as junior Evelyn Boyle competed on the 1-meter, earning a score of 166.35 points, while rookie
Jacob Cerone also competed on the 1-meter to earn a score of 146.60 points.
Following the diving action, the Brewers notched another victory as Myers took first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.53. On the men's side, Glazebnik was once again the winner, clocking in with a time of 48.63. The 200-backstroke saw another sweep on both sides with the women's event being won by Ecklund in a time of 2:08.96. The men's side saw White capture the victory in 2:04.91. In the women's 200-breast, Quintana captured second overall with a time of 2:38.93, while the men's side saw
Hanlin Wang take top honors, touching with a winning time of 2:17.43.
Next up was the 500-free as Myers earned the win in a time of 5:35.68 for the women, while the men's side was won by Perot, who powered his way to a time of 4:48.40. The women's 100-fly saw Luongo take second in a time of 1:01.19, followed by Robins in third (1:01.45) and Whittington in fourth (1:02.86). On the men's side, it was an outstanding performance for Pham, who captured the victory in a blazing time of 54.61. That mark was also a lifetime-best time in the event for him.
It was a 1-2-3 sweep for Vassar in the women's 400-IM, paced by Lowenthal, who won in a time of 4:51.75. Robins earned second in 4:53.16, while Quintana was third in 5:00.92. On the men's side, White was the winner once again, posting a time of 4:30.29.
In the final events of the evening, the 400-free relay, Vassar's A relay of Ecklund, Luongo, Muello and Whittington combined for a top time of 3:42.00, while the men's side saw Perot, Ehrenfeld, Pham and Glazebnik record a winning time of 3:15.20.
Vassar's squads are now idle until December 3 when they travel to Ithaca to compete at the three-day Ithaca Bomber Invitational. Action begins on the 3rd at 4pm and continues on the 4th and 5th beginning at 10am each day.
