Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Vassar Ends Union’s Winning Streak

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Vassar men's soccer team ended the Dutchmen's eight-game winning streak with a 1-0 Liberty League win on Saturday afternoon at College Park Field. The Brewers now move to 5-4-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the conference. Union slips to 8-1-0 overall, and 1-1-0 in the Liberty League.

Junior Jonathan Bow (San Francisco, CA) scored the game-winning goal late in the fourth quarter off Owen Fauth (Keene, NH). Bow got the pass from Fauth and shot it past Union's Trevor Krupp from 15 yards out to give them the lead early.

The match was fairly even with shots tied 10-10 by the end of the game. Union held a slight 5-4 corner advantage and almost scored at the 59th minute when Jeremey Conn made the following shot attempt. Another Dutchmen shot on goal was taken soon after, but freshman goalkeeper Eric Wnorowski (Mantoloking, NJ) was there for the deflection. The Brewers rattled off two more shot on the Union goalkeeper from Bow and Ryan Lane (Santa Monica, CA), but both were turned away.

Wnorowski picked up three saves in his first-career start and win, while Union's Trevor Krupp recorded five saves. Bow led the team with four shots, with three being on goal.

Vassar continues Liberty League play with a home game on Sat. Oct. 5 against Skidmore at 2 p.m.
