DANBURY, CT - The Vassar College women's volleyball team shouldered a pair of tough losses on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-1 loss Morrisville State College, before suffering a narrow 3-2 loss to Western Connectictu State. The Mustangs are now 6-2, the Colonials move to 6-3, while the Brewers are 3-6 overall.
Morrisville State was led by Amelia Bartier and Megyan Merrill, who each recorded 20 kills in the match. Merrill also added a match-high three service aces with 21 digs. Siobhan Moore paced all players in the match with 53 assists, while Sam Wolf added a match-best 23 digs.

Claire Basler-Chang had 14 kills, while senior
Colette Cambey added 10 kills. Senior
Jennifer Kerbs led the match with two blocks, while sophomore
Sara Ehnstrom had 25 assists. Classmate
Claire Bialek added a team-high 20 digs.
The Brewers saw themselves down by a 2-0 margin in the match, but VC battled back with a 7-1 lead behind a number of Mustang errors and a kill from Cambey. Morrisville State had a couple runs of their own as a kill from Merrill cut the deficit to 13-10. A 5-0 point stretch for Vassar pushed them out to a 19-13 lead, but an 8-0 run several series later helped push the Mustangs into the 23-21 lead.
Locked in a 25-all stalemate following a Basler-Chang kill, the Brewers sealed the win as Kesten laid down a strike while MSC committed an error for the 28-26 set win.
Vassar once again took an early lead to open the fourth set, but Morrisville State came roaring back as two 5-0 runs pushed the lead to 13-7. A pair of kills from Basler-Change, coupled with a service ace from sophomore
Madison Wilson helped cut the deficit to 14-12, but the Mustangs regained a significant lead and held a 22-18 edge following a Kirsten Florio kill.
The Brewers came on strong at the end of the set, with four consecutive kills from Basler-Chang, but the Mustangs held on for the 25-22 set win and match victory.
In the final match of the day, WestConn jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the afternoon slot against Vassar. However, the Brewers stormed back with a 25-15 third set victory. With the count deadlocked at 23-23 in the fourth, Kerbs notched a game-changing block which set up the 25-23 win.
However, the Colonials withstood the comeback and jumped out to a 12-4 lead en route to cementing the match victory. WestConn junior Victoria Alomar fired home seven service aces in the match as they improved to 6-3 overall. The Brewers finished the day at 3-7.
Vassar is now idle until Friday when it hosts Montclair State at 5pm at Kenyon Hall. That match marks the first of six total games to be played at Kenyon next weekend.
