ORANGE, Calif. – The Vassar men's tennis team fell 6-3 to Chapman on Friday afternoon.
Allen Sokolov (Woodland Hills, CA) and
Jeremy Auh (Scottsdale, AZ) picked up singles wins, while the two teamed up for the Brewers only doubles win.
The Panthers took a 2-1 doubles lead to start. Sokolov and Auh dominated at the first doubles, downing their opponents 8-1. At the No. 2, Adam Kruger (Bay Village, OH) and
David Gandham (Ann Arbor, MI) lost 8-4 and the No. 3 team of
Nicolas Demaria (New Hyde Park, NY) and
Mathew Yee (Sha Tin, Hong Kong) fell with the same score.
Chapman cruised past the Brewers in the singles, taking the first through fourth courts. Sokolov tallied the 6-3, 6-2 victory against Igor Belineli at the fifth, while Auh won 7-6 in the first set, before dropping a 12-10 second to Terry Kang. Auh came out strong down the stretch, winning 6-3 in the final.
Vassar closes their California trip on Saturday against Wooster. Matches are set to start at 6 p.m.
