PALM DESERT, CA - Bowdoin, ranked #16 nationally defeated Vassar 8-1, #33 nationally, in a 4-hour battle played in Palm Desert, CA on Sunday. Bowdoin swept the doubles matches. Vassar's Frances Cornwall (Poway, CA), #1 singles, defeated Julia Marks of Bowdoin, 6-1, 6-3.
 
"It was a hard-fought match and I'm proud of Vassar's composure, fitness and the way we battled today against a very consistent Bowdoin team," said head coach Kathy Campbell.  "Frances played a very smart and precise match opening the court with depth, forcing balls and then finishing the point."
 
On Monday the Brewers face Hardin Simmons at the CMS Biszantz Family Tennis Center at 10 a.m.
