SHREWSBURY, Mass. –
On Saturday afternoon, the Vassar College men's tennis team continued its eight-match road trip by visiting Clark.  The Brewers (4-2) cruised to a 9-0 victory over the Cougars (4-2) at the Shrewsbury Club, taking five of the six singles matches in straight sets.

Vassar began the day by sweeping the three doubles tilts.  Allen Sokolov (Woodland Hills, CA) and Jeremy Auh (Scottsdale, AZ) earned an 8-5 win over Nicholas Mathieu and Christian Ruebens at No. 1 doubles, while the Brewers' No. 2 tandem of Adam Krueger (Bay Village, OH) and David Gandham (Ann Arbor, MI) posted an identical 8-5 victory over Andrey Samodaev and Jack Han.  At No. 3 doubles, Nicolas Demaria (New Hyde Park, NY) and Jamie Anderson (Constantine, KY) beat Max Schweitzer and Jacob Malicky by an 8-2 count.

After dropping the first set at No. 1 singles, Gandham rallied to beat Mathieu, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6.  The No. 2 singles match was also tight, as Mathew Yee (Sha Tin, Hong Kong) held off Schweitzer, 6-4, 6-3.

Auh played a tough first set before pulling away in the second for a 7-5, 6-1 triumph against Alex Hattenbach in the No. 6 position.  At No. 3 singles, it was Anderson toppling Ruebens, 6-2, 6-2.  Krueger, the Brewers' No. 4, dropped just one game in his encounter with Han, a 6-0, 6-1 win.  Sokolov, meanwhile, finished off the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Samodaev in the No. 5 spot.

The Brewers will now have more than two weeks off before returning to action.  Vassar begins its Spring Break trip to Southern California with a matchup at No. 32 Caltech (1-1) on Sunday, March 10.
