MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Vassar College men's squash team was in action on Saturday, competing at the 2019 Wesleyan Round Robin. The Brewers fell to Chatham, 5-4, before shouldering an 8-1 loss to the host Cardinals in the second match of the day.
The opening match of the day came down to the wire as the Cougars were able to edge the Brewers with wins from the top five positions on the ladder.
Sophomore
Reese Collins was victorious from six, earning a 3-1 (11-6, 9-11, 14-12, 12-10) win over Zane Porterfield. From seven, sophomore
Max Swan was the winner against Jeffrey Duclos with a 3-0 (11-2, 11-8, 11-5) score.
The Brewers also saw sophomore
Liam Condon earn the win from eight with a 3-0 (11-1, 11-7, 11-8) margin over Drew Bannon. Wrapping up the victories for VC was sophomore
Jonah Miles, who bested Harry Aung at nine, 2-0 (11-2, 11-6, 11-0).
In the second match of the day against the host Cardinals, the Brewers shouldered tough losses from the second through ninth spot of the ladder.
Vassar captured its lone win from the top of the ladder as freshman
Sameer Mustafa bested Tian Ji, 3-1 (11-9, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9) for victory.
The men's team is now idle until January 9th when it competes at George Washington in a 2pm tilt.
