POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Vassar College men's squash team shouldered a pair of tough 9-0 loss to Connecticut College and Haverford College in Saturday action at the Kenyon Hall courts. The Brewers slip to 4-7 on the season.
The Camels opened with a victory from eight as sophomore Luigi Pasquariello (Bronx, NY) bested VC's sophomore
Liam Condon (Auburndale, MA) by a 3-0 (11-2, 11-3, 11-3) margin. From five, sophomore Billy Fleurima (Bronx, NY) defeated Brewers' sophomore
Alex Wisneski (Mechanicsburg, PA), 3-0 (11-5, 11-6, 11-6). Conn. College then grabbed a 3-0 advantage as sophomore Andre Giglio (Easton, CT) defeated freshman
Sameer Mustafa (Dublin, CA), 3-0 (11-, 11-7, 11-4).
From nine, sophomore Chris Mach (Concord, MA) posted a 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-4) victory over Vassar sophomore
Jonah Miles (Clarksburg, MA), while from six, Michael Rodriguez earned a 3-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-3) win against
Reese Collins.
At two, MD Jawad earned a 3-0 (11-8, 11-1, 11-8) win against Vassar junior
Milind Joshi (Pune, India) to push the score to 6-0 in favor of Conn. College, while at seven, Camels' Samuel Piller grabbed a 3-0 (11-4, 11-2, 11-3) win over sophomore
Max Swan (San Francisco, CA).
Conn. College made it an 8-0 edge after freshman Tyler Maguire (Middletown, RI) posted a 3-0 (11-1, 11-1, 11-3) victory over freshman
Matthew Hein (Cos Cob, CT) from four, while the match concluded with the three's as junior James Andrew (Dover, MA) posted a 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-2) win against sophomore
Henry Mitchell (Yardley, PA).
In the second match of the day, the Brewers took on the Fords. At one, Mustafa shouldered a 3-0 (8-11, 7-11, 5-11) loss to Davis Chase, while at two Joshi fell to James Dougherty by a 3-0 (9-11, 4-11, 3-11). Three saw Mitchell drop a 3-0 (2-11, 9-11, 4-11) match to Wallace Miller, while at four, Hein was unable to get past Quinton Ayres Crawford, falling 3-0 (5-11, 1-11, 2-11).
Wisneski shouldered a 3-0 (2-11, 10-12, 5-11) loss to Keil Reedich at five, as Collins fell 3-0 (3-11, 4-11, 5-11) to John Collins from six. Seven saw Swan fall 3-0 (1-11, 4-11, 2-11) against Nathan Wang, while Condon dropped a 3-0 (7-11, 5-11, 4-11) decision to Khalil Walker at eight. The ladder wrapped up with Miles as he suffered a 3-0 (3-11, 2-11, 5-11) loss to Aaron Witkin.
Vassar's men's squad is now idle until December 7 when it takes on Chatham (9am) and Wesleyan (5pm) at the Wesleyan Round Robin in Middletown, CT.
