Brewers Face Vermont In USA Rugby Round of 32

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – After coming off a fifth-straight Tri-State Championship title, the Vassar women's rugby team look to defend their national title this Saturday when they open fall nationals against Vermont at the Vassar Farm at 1 p.m.
 
The Brewers are currently 10-0 this season and most recently defeated Marist 32-14 in the Tri-State Championship game on Nov. 9. Junior Megan Martin (Alameda, CA) led the team with four tries and kicked one conversion.
 
Including Martin, four Brewers have scored 10 or more tires this season. Junior Emma Manzella (Concord, MA) leads with 15 tries for 75 total points, while sophomore Emily Howell (Danbury, CT) has 14 for 70 points. Junior Molly Lynch (Bellingham, WA) is Vassar's overall points leaders with 84 on 12 tries and 12 conversions kicks. Senior Aislinn Vences (Denver, CO) has been the go-to conversion kicker, connecting on 26 for 52 total points.
 
As a team, Vassar has outscored opponents 500-129 this season and has four games allowing seven or fewer points.
 
The winner advances to the round of 16 on Sat. Nov. 23 held at the Vassar Farm.
