Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hobart Downs Vassar, 3-0

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Vassar men's soccer team fell on the road to Hobart 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. With the game scoreless late in the first, Hobart netted the opening goal at the 41st minute, and scored two more times in the second half. The Brewers now fall to 5-6-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the Liberty League. Hobart moves to 9-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the conference.

Despite the goal, the first half was even with both sides taking four shots. Hobart did hold a 4-1 corner advantage and also had two shots on goal. Late in the half, Binjo Emmanuel fired the shot into the middle left of the Vassar goal from 20-yards out to put Hobart up 1-0.

The pace started similar in the second half, but Hobart scored twice in a four-minute span to push the lead. At 54:22, August Martini scored a second long-range goal for the Statesmen when he launched the ball from 20-yards out. Then at 58:22, Nate Cary caused a turnover and slipped the pass to Kyle Mangold. He then scored inside the box with the goalie out of position. Vassar struggled to find any rhythm afterward; only taking three shots in the half opposed to Hobart's ten.

Andrew Goldsmith and Hawkins Barratt Heitmann each had two shot attempts. Goalkeeper Eric Wnorowski started in goal and made four saves. Hobart's Brian Salazar had two saves.

Vassar returns home for their next three games starting with St. Lawrence on Friday, Oct. 18. Game starts at 4 p.m.
