PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, the Vassar College women's swimming & diving team traveled to Pace for its final dual meet of the season.
Brynn Lautenbacher (Dunwoody, GA) won three events and
Jesse Ecklund (Missoula, MT) earned two victories, as the Brewers defeated the Setters 161-133 at the Goldstein Center Pool.
Vassar started the day with a first-place showing in the 200 yard medley relay. The quartet of
Rhea Randhawa (Dix Hills, NY),
Hayley Schultz (Fayetteville, NY),
Laura Vidano (San Francisco, CA) and
Violet Witchel (Durango, CO) posted a time of 1:54.68. That was the first of 10 victories by the Brewers in the 16 events.
Lautenbacher swept sprints, posting a time of 25.48 seconds in the 50 freestyle, and taking the 100 freestyle in 55.37 seconds. She later added a victory in the 100 butterfly with a 59.66-second clocking before anchoring the Brewers to second place in the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.21).
Ecklund, meanwhile, placed first in both backstroke events. She finished the 100 backstroke in 1:00.61 and registered a time of 2:07.14 in the 200 backstroke. Ecklund also touched second in the 1650 freestyle, as Vassar went 1-2-3. Her time of 11:29.79 was less than a second behind
Kael Ragnini's (Barrington, IL) winning effort (11:28.98).
Margaret Reisert (Waterville, ME) took third in 13:57.00.
Schultz also earned two individual victories. She notched a 1:09.76 clocking in the 100 breaststroke and swam the 200 breaststroke in 2:32.48.
Stephanie Kaplan (Bellmore, NY) placed second in 2:33.63 to go along with a third-place showing in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.61).
In the 500 freestyle,
Angharad Healey (Summit, NJ) (5:25.77) and Ragnini (5:34.51) went 1-2. Healey added second-place showings in the 200 individual medley relay (2:20.97) and 200 butterfly (2:19.67).
Kendall Hayes (Baltimore, MD) took third in the 200 butterfly (2:23.56) while also capturing second place in the 200 freestyle (2:04.35).
Notching third-place finishes were Randhawa in the 100 backstroke (1:05.01), Witchel in the 50 freestyle (26.15) and
Ellie Kennedy-Wood (Oak Park, IL) in the 100 butterfly (1:03.09). Diver
Hannah Zawacki (San Jose, CA), meanwhile, posted personal-best scores on both the 1-meter (183.20) and 3-meter board (185.80).
This was the last dual meet of the season for the Brewers, who ended up going 6-2 overall in head-to-head competition. Vassar heads to the Skidmore Sprint Invitational next Saturday at 1 p.m. for its final tune-up prior to the Liberty League Championships.
