POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Vassar women's basketball team (13-2, 7-1 Liberty) keeps its winning streak alive, downing the visiting Thoroughbreds (4-11, 3-5 Liberty) 55-48 on Tuesday night at the AFC.
Isa Peczuh led all scorers with 18 points and shot 6-of-10 for three pointers.

Sophie Nick (Denver, CO) chipped on 11 points and eight rebounds, while
Ryan DeOrio (Collegeville, PA) had 11 points, four assists and four boards.

The Brewers started slow, allowing Skidmore to take a 13-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Vassar regained the advantage after Nick knocked down a three from the top of the arc at 9:32. Afterwards, the teams traded baskets with neither side taking more than a three-point lead in the half. Peczuh hit a three with 15 seconds remaining to give Vassar a 29-28 halftime lead.

The Brewers got back in their groove in the second half, beginning the third quarter on a 9-2 run. In the span, Nick hit a pair of jumpers, DeOrio added a layup and Peczuh sank another trey. The Vassar defense limited Skidmore to eight points in the third.

Vassar started the same way as the third, on a 9-2 run, and the team led by as much as 15 points. Skidmore hit a pair of free throws at 6:42, but jump shots from Nick and
Sarah Gillooly (Stow, MA) gave the Brewers a 53-38 lead. While Skidmore did outscore Vassar 12-11 in the fourth, they could only pull within seven before the final buzzer.
