Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Goals by Stevens Down Vassar

Poughkeepsie, NY – Vassar men's soccer would score first against No. 15 Stevens, but the Ducks responded late in the second with two late goals to down the Brewers, 3-1.

Despite the score, defenses ruled throughout the day with neither team scoring in the first half. Vassar held a slight 4-3 shot advantage going into halftime, and scored first at the 57:36 mark off a Nathaniel Kim (Clarksville, MD) free kick at the top center of the box. The junior midfielder launched the shot through the Ducks' defense for his first-career goal and the 1-0 lead.

Stevens picked their offense up soon after when Seth Onolaja picked the ball off a Vassar deflection and found Adam Silva in front of the Vassar net. Silva then slipped the ball past Mark Infante II (Stowe, VT) to tie the game 1-1.

The Ducks went on the score two goals in a two-minute span at the 76th and 77th marks. The first came off a corner from Daniel Aversano, who passed the ball perfectly to Bailey Gano from the left side. A failed clear by the Vassar defense was taken advantage of by Chris Cesario, who netted a quick goal on a breakaway.

Infante started in goal and picked up four saves. Kim led the Brewers with three shots.

Vassar is back home on Wed. Sept. 12 for their Grassroot Soccer Charity game against New Paltz at 4 p.m.
