Baliat Scores Two In Rout of Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, NY – Career firsts highlighted the 4-0 Brewers (2-0-0) victory over Mount Saint Mary (1-1-0) on Sunday evening. Kevin Baliat (Eldoret, Kenya) picked up his first multiple-goal game, while freshman Quinn Tunnell (Hershey, PA) found net for his first career goal in burgundy.

Vassar controlled both sides of the field from the start, scoring less than three minutes into the first. Mattie Mrlik (San Francisco, CA) found senior Tyler Gilmore (Coronado, CA) for the early goal and the 1-0 lead.

The offense continued to roll throughout the half, with the Brewers taking seven shots on goal. The Knights' defense eventually broke again when Henrik Olsson helped Tunnell score his first goal at the 35th minute.

The Brewers' defense was not slacking either, with the team not allowing a single Knights' shot in the first half, while only allowing three in the second.

Offense appeared to settle down after halftime, but Baliat was just getting started, scoring first at the 54th minute on an unassisted goal. Ten minutes later, Austin Lukasik (Jupiter, FL) found the forward for his second score of the night.

Sophomore Mark Infante II (Stowe, VT) started in goal for Vassar, recording his career-first win and shutout. The Knights Jakup Myrtja split time with Tyler Rapp, with Myrtja making six saves.

Vassar returns to action on Wednesday Sept. 5 for their home opener against Manhattaville (1-0-0) at 5 p.m.
