Poughkeepsie, NY – The Brewers field hockey team put on an offensive showcase in the opening game of the Betty Richey Tournament on Friday night, outscoring the visiting Manhattanville Valiants 10-0. Eight different Vassar players scored, and Manhattanville was outshot 39-1.
Megan Caveny (Cicero, NY) scored first and would score again in the second.
Alyssa More (Wilmington, DE) would tack on two goals, while
Cristina Lopez (Timonium, MD),
Rylie Pope (San Diego, CA),
Sam Plante (Watertown, MA),
Stephanie Palma (Manhasset, NY) and
Heidi Zahnleuter (Clifton Park, NY) picked up one goal apiece.
Liz Rotolo (Lebanon, NJ) started in goal for Vassar, making one save.
Vassar plays in the championship game at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday against SUNY Geneseo. The consolation game will be played first at 1 p.m. and features Marywood and Manhattanville.
