Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Career Days Power Women's Lacrosse Over RIT, 19-13

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 6, 2018) – Career days from Tessa Waters, Fiona MacLeod, Alessandra Fable, and Olivia O'Loughlin all helped Vassar in a 19-13 win over RIT to improve to 2-1 in Liberty League action.

Waters set a new personal standard with seven total points on the afternoon off a career-high six goals and one assist. MacLeod matched her seven points for a new career mark off three goals and career best four assists. Fable, whose career is just eight games thus far, put home a new best four points against the tigers, matching her season-high of three goals while adding an assist. And O'Loughlin matched her career best with three goals.

The Brewers had a balanced scoring attack as six other players also recorded at least one point in the win. Kelly Pushie tallied four assists, Amelia Rivoir had two goals and one assist, while Adele MacEwen and Storm Sideleau each had one score. To round out the point getters, Julia Sledzik dished out one assist.

Vassar took control of the game early, jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the first six minutes. Waters and MacLeod each had two scores in the opening run as Rivoir and Fable both added one. RIT then got their first score from the league's leading scorer, Emily Livecchi, at the 21:34 mark.

The Brewer defense paid special attention to Livecchi all game, holding her to just two goals and one assist, well below her season averages.

The Tigers got their fifth score of the day to make it 9-5 with five minutes left in the half, but Vassar answered with two scores before the break. Fable and Rivoir tallied goals just 35 seconds apart to stop RIT's momentum.

Both sides traded goals in the second half with neither team stringing together more than two goals in a row. The Tigers cut it to 15-10 at the 12:25 mark off one of Alanna Fallone's nine goals on the day. But scores from MacEwen and Sideleau stopped the run and put the Brewers back up by seven.

With just over nine minutes to go, Vassar stretched out their possessions to shorten the game and go home with the six-point win.

The Brewers were strong off the draw, winning 24 of 35 in the circle. MacEwen led the way collecting eight draw controls. Both MacLeod and O'Loughlin tallied two caused turnovers against the Tigers.

In cage, Emily Chancey played the full 60 minutes, making 10 saves on the day.

The Brewers are in action on Saturday on Weinberg Field, hosting the University of Rochester at 1:00 p.m.
