POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 21, 2018) – The Vassar women's tennis team saw their five-match win streak come to an end as they fell 9-0 to Skidmore on Saturday afternoon.
For the Brewers, it was their first Liberty League loss of the season as they now sit 6-1 in conference play with one league match remaining.
In doubles, all three points went in favor of the Thoroughbreds. The best doubles match of the day went to the No. 2 pairing of
Dasha Ivenitsky and
Sarra Yekta. The duo forced extras as before they fell 9-7 to Skidmore.
In singles action, Skidmore took home two set victories in five of the six matches. In the top spot,
Frances Cornwall dropped 2-6, 0-6. Next up
Tara Edwards fell 2-6, 4-6. At No. 3,
Meghan Rodick forced three sets as she lost the first (2-6), claimed the second (6-4), but fell 5-10 in the third.
In the fourth position,
Courtney Geiss, lost 2-6, 6-0. Yekta played at No. 5, dropping 3-6, 1-6 to Laura Swenson. And in the sixth spot,
Morgane Flournoy fell 2-6, 2-6.
Vassar is back on Josselyn Tennis Courts on Sunday as they host MIT at 10:00 a.m.
