Women's Lacrosse Ends Non-Conference Slate With 13-8 Loss At FDU-Florham

MADISON, NJ (March 29, 2018) – The Vassar women's lacrosse team dropped their final non-conference game of the season, 13-8, at Fairleigh Dickinson – Florham on Thursday night.

The game stayed close through the beginning of the first half, but an eight goal run before halftime helped power the Devils to a five-point win.

The Brewers got four points apiece from Fiona MacLeod and Kelly Pushie. MacLeod registered two goals and two assists while Pushie had three scores and one helper. Tessa Waters and Storm Sideleau each had one goal and one assist on the day. Lindsay Wolk added two assists and Alessandra Fable scored one goal.

Vassar and FDU traded goals in the opening minutes as the score was tied 2-2 after six and a half minutes. Fable scored first as MacLeod assisted on the tally. One minute later, it was MacLeod on the receiving end of a Pushie assist to level the score.

The Devils then put away two scores before MacLeod assisted Waters to break up the run. But over the next 19 minutes, FDU scored eight in a row to take a 12-3 lead into the locker room.

The Brewers were able to outscore the home side in the second half thanks to the defense allowing just one goal over the final 30 minutes, but the Devils strong first half was enough to hang on for the win.

MacLeod and Sideleau opened the second half scoring when the senior found the sophomore for the goal. The game was then scoreless for nearly 15 minutes before FDU found the back of the net to increase their lead to nine.

Vassar scored the final four goals of the game, with three coming by way of Pushie's stick. But it wasn't enough to make the full comeback against the Devils.

Emily Chancey played the full time between the pipes, recording 13 saves. Waters led the way with six draw controls. The Brewers forced eight turnovers with MacLeod and Sydney Nemphos each causing two.

The Brewers jump right back into league play on Saturday, hosting Clarkson on Weinberg Field at 1:00 p.m.
