ORANGE, CA (March 17, 2018) -- Freshmen Sarra Yekta and Meghan Rodick were each double winners on Saturday, but it wasn't quite enough as the No. 40 Vassar College women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to Chapman University in action from the Lastinger Tennis Center in Orange, CA. 

The Brewers (7-3) started well by taking two of the three doubles matches, as senior Courtney Geiss and Rodick picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2 pairs to put the Brewers up 1-0. The pair of Rodick and Geiss have now won their last two matches together, and are 3-1 this season together. 

After Chapman tied the match at No. 1 doubles, Vassar pulled back ahead at No. 2 pairs as senior Dasha Ivenitsky and Yekta won a 7-4 tiebreaker in the 15th and final game, helping VC take a 2-1 lead into singles. 

The Brewers pushed their lead to 3-1 after the decision at No. 3, as Rodick moved to 12-4 on the season while winning the seventh match in her last 10 with a 6-1, 7-5 victory. Yekta pushed Vassar to within one match of the win at No. 6 with an easy 6-1, 6-1 triumph, as she's now 3-1 at No. 6 singles this season. 

From that point on, it was all Chapman though, as CU rallied to take the final four matches including a three-setter at No. 5 to pull the upset victory. 

Vassar finishes its Spring Break trip Sunday, March 18 at 10 a.m. Pacific, taking on No. 40 CalTech in Pasadena, CA in non-conference action.
