ORANGE, CA (March 14, 2018) -- The Vassar College men's tennis team played tough throughout at Chapman University Wednesday, but the Brewers were unable to pick up the win as Vassar fell 6-3 in road, non-conference action at Lastinger Tennis Center. 

Vassar fell behind 2-0 after defeats at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, but pulled to within one thanks to a victory at No. 3 doubles as Nicolas Demaria and Nick Zuczek knocked off Troy Manditch and Blake Wilcox 8-5. In singles action, Jacob Lee earned a straight set win at No. 1 over David Gandham 6-3, 6-1 to make the score 3-1. 

VC pulled to within one at 3-2 thanks to sophomore Jeremy Auh, as the sophomore continued his strong play of late with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles over Troy Manditch. The Brewers pulled even at No. 4 singles, as junior Jamie Anderson pushed his regular season record to 6-2 on the year, winning his third straight outing with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Brock DeHaven. 

The rest of the decisions would go to Chapman though, as Dom Demeterfi fell 7-6, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and Rasmus Helms of CU knocked off Demaria at No. 6 singles to clinch the match with a 6-4, 7-6 decision. The final match of the day was the most exciting of the day, as Len Kamemoto and freshman Adam Krueger battled at No. 2 singles. Krueger won the first set, but Kamemoto posted a 6-1 win in the second to even the match. In the third set, Kamemoto was able to earn the valuable break, knocking off Krueger 6-4. 

Vassar (5-6) returns to the court Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. Pacific, taking on No. 25 Case Western Reserve University at Pomona-Pitzer in more non-conference action to finish the Spring Break swing for the Brewers.
