POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 3, 2018) – The Vassar women's basketball team picked up their ninth Liberty League victory of the season with a 72-45 victory over Union on Saturday afternoon in the AFC.
Ariella Rosenthal paced the offense with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Nicole Teta and
Isa Peczuh chipped in 11 points apiece off the bench, combining to shoot 10-17 from the field.
Kim Romanoff added nine points, while
Maeve Sussman dished out five assists and grabbed seven boards.
The Brewers as a team shot 50.8% from the floor while holding the Dutchwomen to 31.1% shooting.
Vassar went on an 11-0 run in the first five minutes of the game with five points from Rosenthal and four from Romanoff to get the game going. They ended the first period up 21-9 as
Jackie Cenan ended the stanza with a layup.
Union was able to outscore Vassar 16-14 in the second frame to cut the deficit to just 10 before halftime. But it was the second half when the Brewers exerted their dominance. VC outscored Union, 37-20 in the final half to seal the lopsided win. Rosenthal had 10 of her points after halftime, while Teta scored all 11 of hers after the break.
The Brewers head to Saratoga Springs for a mid-week contest at Skidmore on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
