POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 24, 2018) – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team will face Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, Bryn Mawr College, and Wellesley College in the Seven Sisters Championships this upcoming Saturday and Sunday. VC women's tennis will travel to Northampton, MA to face off against these four teams for a competitive weekend of matches.

Last Time Out: The Brewers sent six players into the singles draw against Division I opponent Army-West Point, as well as two doubles squads against the tough opponent. Despite losing the day 7-0, the Brewers put up a fight against Army. Senior
Dasha Ivenitsky played especially well in her second set at No. 6 singles with a near defeat of 7-5. Senior
Courtney Geiss at No. 3 singles also played well in her second set, with a close 6-3 loss against her Army opponent. Doubles pair
Tara Edwards and
Morgane Flournoy pushed their Army opponents but lost 6-2 after a hard fought battle.
A Look At The Brewers (2-1, 2-0 Liberty):
- Senior Kate Christensen has had a great season so far, showing a record of 6-3 for her singles performances in the three matches so far this year.
- Freshman Frances Cornwall has had a dominant showing in both singles and doubles this year, posting a 6-2 record for singles and a 6-1 record for doubles with fellow freshman Meghan Rodick.
- Sophomore Ashley Fair has gone undefeated in singles and doubles matches this year, showing an impressive record of 6-0 for singles and 4-0 for doubles.
- Freshman Meghan Rodick has gone 8-3 in singles and 8-2 in doubles just three matches into the year, showing a strong start for the Brewers and great potential for future matches.
- Sophomore Vista Grinde has had an outstanding showing in doubles matches so far, posting an 8-0 record this season.
- Sophomore Ashley Fair is on a notable 6 match winning streak in singles matches and will be looking to continue this streak into future matches.
- The Brewers have gone 12-0 in Liberty League action for singles matches and 6-0 for doubles matches, making them undefeated in the conference this year.
A Look At The Pioneers (1-1):
- Senior Sane Peikes and sophomore Joanna Kim are a dynamic duo in doubles matches, winning their match in the top slot against Simmons College.
- Senior Sane Peikes is also dominant in singles matches, as she posted 6-1 and 6-3 wins over Simmons opponent this season.
- Talia Natoli and freshman Allison Ahern are also strong in doubles matches, winning an impressive 8-0 over Regis College opponents.
- Natoli and Ahern also show impressive skill in singles, posting wins in the N0. 6 and No. 3 positions against Regis college.
A Look At The Lyons (1-1):
- All six singles players posted wins against Simmons College back in September along with all three doubles teams posting wins against Simmons as well.
- Freshman Anya Gerasimova went 12-0 in singles against Simmons, impressively not falling a single time to her opponent.
- Sophomore Ching-Ching Huang, senior Ishita Tibrewal, and freshman Anya Gerasimova are undefeated so far this season in singles matches and have contributed a lot to the Lyons success.
- Doubles pairing Catherine Peabody and Anya Gerasimova have had a strong showing In their two matches this season, winning both of them.
A Look At The Owls (3-1):
- Freshman Hannah Sherman and senior Lizzie Siegle had impressive showings against Arcadia in their singles matches, with both of them going 6-0, 6-1.
- Doubles pairs Lizzie Siegle and Hannah Sherman and Sydney Kim and freshman Christina Xue also had notable showings against Arcadia, each winning 8-1.
- Senior Abbygail Brewster and sophomore Francesca have also had strong appearances in single matches so far this season, winning by considerable amounts against Alvernia.
- Duo of Hannah Sherman and Lizzie Siegle have gone undefeated in doubles matches this season and will be the doubles team to watch out for in the upcoming match.
A Look At The Blue (0-0):
- Last season the Blue had an overall record of 14-7 and an impressive conference record of 7-1.
- Sophomore Korina Hernandez will be a tough opponent in singles matches, as she had a strong season the year prior and a year's worth of experience now under her belt.
- Doubles pair Sojin Ki and Selina Peng had a dominant season last year as a duo and will be opponents to look out for in the upcoming match.
- The Blue have a strong incoming freshman class, with 4 new players, Michelle Buyer, Lily Chu, Lizzy Kong, and Abigail Schleichkorn, who will be ready for the upcoming Seven Sisters tournament.
