POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 27, 2018) – The Vassar College men's squash team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday to Northeastern, 0-9, and Connecticut College, 0-9.
It was a close match most of the way, as the Brewers matched up with the Huskies. In the No. 2 spot,
Mathieu Rizk fell 3-1 to Karan Kimkishcpur. After dropping the first game,6-11, the freshman battled back to take the second, 11-4. But then fell in the next two, 5-11, 6-11 to take the loss.
Alex Riccio was also able to force a fourth game in his matchup with Connor Rouan. The senior took the first, 11-9, but dropped the remaining three, 5-11, 7-11, 6-11. At the top of the ladder,
Viraj Nadkarni battled hard against Daniel Blohm, but ultimately fell 0-11, 5-11, 4-11.
In their final match of the day against the Camels of Connecticut College, they dropped all nine matches 3-0. Nadkarni in the one spot was able to force extra points with Alex Snape but fell in three, 12-14, 3-11, 10-12. At the bottom of the ladder, Merrick Rubenstein got in his first day of action with the Brewers in the No. 9 spot. He dropped 3-0 to Louis Feingold (1-11, 1-11, 0-11).
Andrew Solender played in is fourth straight match for Vassar and in the eighth spot fell 0-11, 1-11, 0-11.
Vassar is in action tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. for a Senior Day contest with Lehigh in Kenyon Hall.
