POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 18, 2017) – The Vassar College field hockey team has won its past three games following a 5-0 win over Ramapo College on Saturday afternoon, as Megan Caveny posted two goals and an assist for VC. The Brewers will look to continue its inspired play on Wednesday, traveling to the Garden State for action with No. 8 Montclair State University.

Last Time Out: The Vassar field hockey team scored twice in the opening half, besting that with three in the second stanza to earn a 5-0 win over Ramapo College on Saturday. Sophomore Cristina Lopez scored the game-winning goal on a penalty corner in the first half, while freshman Dara Studnitzer tallied for the first time in her career as well. Caveny added a pair of second-half strikes, sandwiched around an Emily Poehlein score. VC outshot Ramapo 39-5 on the day.

• Vassar has won its last three games coming into Wednesday, outscoring opponents during that stretch by a margin of 22-1.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Liz Rotolo currently leads Division III in goals against average, posting a 0.23 mark through the opening three weeks of the season. She is also third in save percentage (0.917).
• Junior Megan Caveny is 15^th nationally in goals per game with 1.33, as she is second in the Liberty League with her eight scores.
• The eight goals are one shy of her previous best for a season, set last year for the Brewers.
• Vassar comes into Wednesday's contest fifth in the nation in scoring margin, outscoring its opponents by 3.83 goals per game.
• Head coach Michael Warari is currently 27^th among active NCAA Division III field hockey coaches in winning percentage with a .679 mark, which is third-best among Liberty League head mentors.
• Vassar's 26 goals through six games are the most ever through the opening six contests of a season, as VC is second in the Liberty League in total goals and goals per game (4.33).
• Vassar's schedule toughens over the next few weeks, playing four ranked teams over its next six contests. VC has the 10^th hardest schedule in D-III over the rest of the season.
• Wednesday is VC's final contest against a New Jersey Athletic Conference team for the 2017, as the Brewers have gone 1-1 thus far.
• VC is 13^th nationally in points per game with 11.17 on the year, which ranks second in the Liberty League behind the 13.00 from William Smith.

 
A Look At The No. 8 Red Hawks (7-0):
 

• The Red Hawks have started very strong this season, posting wins in all seven of their games, including a 2-1 overtime win over Skidmore College and a 3-0 victory over RPI this past weekend.
• Montclair State is in a stretch of five straight home games on Sprague Field, while going 20-3 at home over the last two and a half seasons.
• The Red Hawks have done a nice job of getting penalty corners this season, ranking 18^th in Division III and first in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
• Amber Haslett leads the offensive attack, as she has posted seven goals on the season, ranking third in the NJAC in goals per game with 1.00 per night.
• Keeper Kaitlin Maguire has been stout as well in cage for the Brewers, allowing 0.88 goals per game, which ranks 16^th best in the nation.
• Eileen O'Reilly is in her third season at the helm of the Red Hawks, going 38-11 while ranking seventh in winning percentage in Division III (.776).
• Montclair State played in the Division III National Championship game back in 2012, losing to Tufts 2-1. The Red Hawks have made the NCAA Tournament six times since 2003.
• Nine different players have scored for MSU this season, as Kaitlyn Struss and Kailey Dalgauer have added to the offensive attack with four and three goals, respectively.

 
Against MSU All-Time: Vassar has a 4-3 record against the Red Hawks all time, earning a 1-0-win last year in Poughkeepsie. VC has only played in Montclair once before, dropping a 3-0 decision back in 2015.
