CORTLAND, NY (September 1, 2017) - The 2017 Vassar College women's volleyball team started its season Friday evening at the Cortland Red Dragon Classic, beginning the day with a five-set victory over Lebanon Valley College before falling to No. 13 
Juniata College in three games. 
In the opening match of the season, the Brewers were paced by the right-arm of junior 
Devan Gallagher, who chalked up a huge career-best total of 26 kills. VC would need everyone of her terminations, as she helped Vassar to a 15-13 thrilling win in the final set to complete a 25-27, 25-10, 20-25, 25-18, 15-13 match triumph. 
Sophomore 
Jane McLeod added 17 kills and nine digs, while Gallagher chalked up a double-double thanks to her team-best 12 digs. She also added six aces and hit .309 on the match. Freshman Anna 
Zucchero finished with 11 digs and three aces, while junior Lauren 
Ninkovich added 11 digs, five aces and four kills.
Sophomore Colette 
Cambey posted seven terminations on 12 attempts, posting five assisted blocks, and Jennifer 
Kerbs also posted five kills. Fellow sophomore Jorden 
Schreeder contributed 11 of VC's 59 digs on the day, while the Brewers posted 20 service aces and only five service receive errors. VC also hit .265 for the day, as junior 
Annie MacMillan dished out 54 helpers to go with her two aces, three blocks and five digs. 
In the nightcap, stats were unavailable, but 
Juniata earned a 26-24, 25-20, 25-18 win to move VC to 1-1 on the day. 
Vassar will take on Coast Guard Academy (2-0) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, finishing play at the Red Dragon Classic at 4 p.m. against the University of Rochester (1-1).
