POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (May 3, 2017) – The Vassar women's tennis team will proceed to the Liberty League Tournament, held in Ithaca, NY at Cornell University for a two-day competition. Facing St. Lawrence University on Friday, the Brewers will look to repeat their in-season 8-1 success.

Last Time Out: On Senior Day, the Brewers had a definitive win over Liberty League competitor RIT, 9-0. Not giving up a single set the entire day, Vassar exhibited their depth and grit.
A Look at the Brewers (
15-4, 6-1 Liberty League):
- Vassar enters the Liberty League as No. 12 in the Northeast region. They have held this spot for over a week now, elevated from the No. 18 spot.
- Doubles will be an asset for the Brewers, as in their last matchup against the Saints; they were undefeated in every game. Shayna Becker and Tara Edwards lead this category, winning 12 matches together this season.
- Kate Christensen continues to be dominant in the league, earning Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll after her assertive performance in the No. 1 spot for singles and No. 2 spot for doubles with Morgane Flournoy.
- Senior Connie Yoo displays leadership in her game play, stunning with a 19-6 singles record and excellent doubles scores, including the match clincher during the RIT contest.
- The Brewers have a .762 singles win percentage, a statistic that will serve them well in the Liberty League Conference.
A Look at the Saints (10-9, 5-2 Liberty League):
- The Saints have vacillated between No. 18 and No. 15 in the Northeast region, finishing out as No. 16 in the regular season.
- St. Lawrence holds strength in their doubles pairing, holding a .667 win percentage in the conference. Emily Wyman and Hallie Young are undefeated in the conference for their match play.
- Katherine Apt had a strong start of her season, winning 12 matches off the bat, yet since playing Vassar, has only registered two wins in the No. 2 singles spot.
- Georgia Comber has also had a tough season, yet has been playing against some of the best talent in Division III tennis. She will be prepared for a difficult Liberty League competition.
- Similarly, the Saints tout one of the most difficult schedules in the conference, playing several ranked opponents.
