WHITTIER, CA (March 16, 2017) – The Vassar College women's tennis squad, which entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 40 Thursday at No. 40, lived up to the ranking as the Brewers breezed past Whittier College 9-0 in non-conference action from Ettinger Tennis Courts in Whittier, CA.

The Brewers, playing their third match in California Thursday afternoon, dominated from start to finish to keep the Poets winless (0-6) on the season. The day started with a strong effort in doubles, as junior Kate Christensen and sophomore Morgane Flournoy knocked off Venezio Moyano and Karissa Lee at No. 2 with an unblemished score line of 8-0. The pairing is now 8-3 on the season together.

Vassar (7-2) would guarantee itself of a lead heading into singles action thanks to a win at No. 3 doubles, as senior Connie Yoo and Dasha Ivenitsky earned an 8-1 victory. The pair moved to 4-4 on the season with the win. The final match in doubles would also go the way of the Brewers, as freshman Tara Edwards and senior Shayne Becker picked up their seventh win together with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.

In singles play, Yoo would give Vassar a 4-0 advantage at No. 3 singles, knocking off Lee 6-1, 6-0 to earn her 12^th win of the season, which ties for the team lead with Christensen. Yoo has now won her last five singles matches, and is 8-2 over her last 10. The winning point for the Brewers would come thanks to Becker, as she also earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 2 position to clinch the win for VC.

The Brewers would push their lead to 6-0 with a win from Flournoy, as she eclipsed the double-digit win plateau while earning her first win at the No. 3 spot. Freshman Vista Grinde earned her first dual match win of her young career Thursday, as she rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Esther Choe at No. 6. Ivenitsky posted VC's fourth 6-1, 6-0 win of the day at No. 5, as she earned her 10^th win of the year.

The final win of the day came at the top spot, as Christensen posted a 6-4, 6-2 win to close the match for VC with the sweep. Christensen is now 12-4 on the season. With the six wins, VC now is 77-38 in singles action, including a dominant 40-14 record in dual meets.

The Brewers will be right back at it tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. PDT, taking on the No. 17 ranked team in the West Region, Chapman University in non-conference action from Anaheim Tennis Center.
