POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 29, 2017) – The Vassar women's tennis team (4-1, 3-0 Liberty League) is looking to improve their Liberty League record to 4-0 this coming Saturday, March 4, in Geneva, NY, where they will face the Herons of William Smith.

Last Time Out: The Brewers triumphed over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in conference play with a final score of 7-2. As both teams in the Top 20 in the Northeast region, it was a competitive match-up, but strong singles performances carried the Brewers to a victory.
A Look at the Brewers (4-1, 3-0 Liberty League):
- The Brewers are 3-0 in the League so far, coming off a decisive win of RPI this past Saturday.
- Successful match play in the recent weeks has propelled Vassar to No. 14 in the NCAA Northeast Regional rankings.
- Junior Kate Christensen will continue to be Vassar's go-to player as she has an impressive 10-2 record in singles and a 6-4 record in doubles.
- The dynamic duo of senior Shayna Becker and freshman Tara Edwards is in the No. 1 doubles spot, having won six of their matches this season; they will look to rebound off of loss against RPI this Saturday.
- Christensen earned Liberty League Honor Roll accolades this past week after a big win over Allie Kalish of RPI.
- Vassar's lone dual match loss of the season was to Division I Army, while VC has won all four of its matches with Division III teams.
- Vassar has posted a nearly identical winning percentage in both singles and doubles, registering a .659 clip in singles and .660 in pairs action.
- Sophomore Morgane Flournoy is a perfect 3-0 in doubles play within the Liberty League, which leads the squad.
A Look at the Herons (1-1, 1-1 Liberty League):
- The Herons are looking to improve their 1-1 Liberty League record after falling to No. 27 Skidmore 9-0.
- Ranked regionally #20, William Smith will be a strong contender.
- First year Allie Perron is proving to be a real asset for the Herons, performing well in the No. 2 slot for singles and No. 2 doubles. Perron is 7-3 on the season in singles.
- Senior Hannah More, Liberty League Player of the Year in 2015-2016, will battle in the No. 1 position for singles and doubles. More is 3-4 in singles, but 5-2 in doubles play.
- Kate Foley is 4-2 this season, playing primarily at the No. 3 and No. 4 position in singles for the Herons.
- William Smith has won exactly 50 percent of its matches in both singles and doubles.
