ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY (November 11, 2017) – The Vassar men's squash team split their two matches on the first day of the Bard College Round Robin. The Brewers began the day with a 9-0 loss to the host Bard College, but followed that up with 6-3 win over Siena College.
Against the Raptors, all eight players for Vassar lost by scores of 3-0. Freshman Mathieu Rizk had the closest games against Bard, falling 11-8, 11-5, 11-8.
Later in the day against Siena, the Brewers picked up their third team win of the season. Vassar got wins from their top six players to earn the team victory.
Viraj Nadkarni picked up a hard fought 3-2 win at No. 1. After dropping the first two games, he came storming back winning 11-5, 11-9, 13-11 in the final three.
At No. 2, Rizk was able to pick up a quick 3-0 win over Jack McQuade.
Caden Gruber competed in the third spot, winning 3-1. The junior lost the first game, but won the next three for the victory.
Alex Riccio picked up a 3-0 win in the fourth spot, while
Isaac Stuart and Milind Joshi rounded out the top six for the Brewers. At No. 5, Stuart claimed a 3-1 win. He won the first two, dropped the third game, but regained momentum in the fourth for the win. Joshi picked up a 3-2 victory in the sixth spot. The freshman proved his mettle after losing the first two, he won three straight for the overall victory over Greg Sileo.
The Brewers are back in action tomorrow as they continue the Bard College Round Robin in Annandale-On-Hudson, NY.
