Cambey Leads Women's Volleyball Past Bard, 3-0

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY (October 3, 2017) -- Junior Colette Cambey posted a team-best 11 kills Tuesday evening, lifting the Vassar College women's volleyball team to a three-set, Liberty League victory over Bard College in action from Stevenson Athletic Center.

The Brewers (15-3, 3-0 Liberty League) earned their seventh straight victory Tuesday night, which eclipsed the previous season-high win streak of six done earlier in the campaign. The victory also clinched a winning season for the Brewers, who moved 12 games over .500 with 10 regular season matches to play.

Cambey was Vassar's top offensive force on Tuesday, as she came to within one of her career high of 12 kills set against Bates College on September 9 of this season. Cambey hit .381 for Vassar, finishing 11 of her 21 attempts while adding a pair of assisted blocks. Junior Devan Gallagher added nine kills and eight digs, hitting .316 for the match.

Junior Lauren Ninkovich also had a solid match with four kills and a team-high 12 digs, and Annie MacMillan chalked up 29 assists and two digs. Vassar's service game was once again strong, as sophomore Jorden Schreeder and senior Bria Corham paced the Brewers with three aces apiece as VC totaled 10 on the night.

Freshman Anna Zucchero posted eight digs and two aces for the Brewers, who hit .187 (31-14-91) on the night. Fellow freshman Lena Stevens came on late in the match and finished off the match with a klll, also contributing a pair of digs.

Philippine Alba paced the Raptors (4-15, 0-3 Liberty) with nine kills, while Maracela Talamantes and Kaylynn Trann both finished with four kills as well. Emily Anastasi finished with a team-high 18 digs, while Victoria Chou also added 12 digs.

Vassar returns to the floor on Friday evening in Saratoga Springs, NY, taking on another Liberty League foe in Skidmore College at 7 p.m.
