POTSDAM, NY (October 21, 2017) – A tough trip to North Country for the Vassar College women's volleyball team concluded Saturday afternoon at Clarkson University, as the Brewers dropped their second consecutive match as VC was topped by the host Golden Knights 25-14, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-16 in the Liberty League finale for both teams.
With the loss, the Brewers (20-5, 5-2 Liberty League) will now serve as the No. 3 seed in the Liberty League Tournament, where they will take on Clarkson November 3 at Ithaca College, which earned the regular season title Saturday with a win over Union College. VC also dropped back-to-back matches for the first time this season with the defeat.
After falling behind by a pair of sets, Vassar responded with its best set of the match, forcing the Golden Knights (15-7, 6-1 Liberty) into -.022 hitting in the third set to push the match to the fourth. CU would turn the tables on VC in the fourth though, as Vassar totaled just five kills while the Golden Knights hit .250 with 14 terminations to clinch the victory for Clarkson.

Devan Gallagher, who added 17 digs as well, while freshman libero
Anna Zucchero finished with a career-high 28 digs. Junior
Annie MacMillan posted a double-double of 35 assists and 17 digs, while sophomore
Jorden Schreeder also registered 13 defensive saves.
Sophomore
Colette Cambey totaled 10 kills on 25 swings for Vassar, finishing with three total blocks, and
Lauren Ninkovich chalked up seven terminations and 10 digs. Vassar hit .046 for the match, which was VC's lowest hitting percentage of the season.
Kendall Cheval paced the CU attack with 13 kills Saturday, and setter Jillian Saenz added 23 assists, two aces and 10 digs. Rachel Reusch also totaled eight finishes and four aces, while Savannah Peters tallied 10 kills as well. Kate Isaksen led all players with 34 digs on the match.
Vassar will look to get back to its winning ways this upcoming Wednesday afternoon, hosting New Paltz at 7 p.m. in non-conference action in Kenyon Hall in a big regional match-up.
